News Categories
NSSEA industry news items are broken into four categories: New Products, Catalog/Dealer Promotion, Awards & Recognition and Management News.
Listings should begin with the company name, and end with a phone number, email or Website to contact. Please no “promotional” language or hyperbole. Only one (1) new product listing per company will be published in a single issue. You may submit product photos or new hire headshots to accompany your listing. Essentials Weekly only publishes awards and management news.
Obituaries/In Memoriam
Employees of members companies who have passed away are profiled in Essentials
magazine. You may submit a copy of the local newspaper obituary and/or a few typed
paragraphs. Please include the individual's age at death, job title, surviving relatives, any
industry leadership accomplishments, and where memorial contributions may be made. Also include a picture of the individual for publication.
Member Voices/News & Views
Members are encouraged to voice their opinions on various industry issues. You may do so
as a “letter to the editor” (Member Voices) or as an essay (News & Views). Member Voices
letters should be under 150 words and News & Views essays should be between 450-650 words. All submissions must be signed with your full name, title, and company name.
Submit Story Ideas
Essentials staff works for you, which is why we're seeking you're commentary and story ideas for the magazine's next issue. Is there a business topic you'd like us to address or a school market story we should pursue? Would you like Essentials to publish your personal commentary on an important school industry or business related issue? If so, we'd love to hear from you! Please send your story ideas/commentary to us at: dspencer@nssea.org. We strive to produce a publication that is responsive to your needs. By submitting story ideas or commentary you play an active role in shaping your magazine.
Manuscript Guidelines
The article review process should begin with a query by email followed by a brief abstract or outline. Please state your topic and objective, and indicate your perspective as well as your professional relationship to the topic. Content must be unbiased and cannot promote a particular product or company. Allow three weeks for a response to your query.
Article length may range from 500 to 3000 words. All manuscripts must be submitted electronically via email. Submit as text (.txt), or MS Word (.doc) files.
If your article is supported by a graph, chart or image, please provide a caption and source reference. Submit graphics files in .TIF, .JPG, or .EPS format. Do not embed images into the document (word or txt). Graphics files should be sent via email as a separate attachment.
Although we are unable to pay contributors, all authors of NSSEA Essentials will have their bios published at the bottom of the article with contact information and a head shot.
All story ideas, industry news items and letters to the editor can be emailed to dspencer@nssea.org.
