NSSEA Leadership

The National School Supply and Equipment Association is governed by 18 member Board of Directors comprising of member company employees within the educational industry who volunteer their time to guide the future of the Association.

Councils

The Mission of each Council is to:

1. Generate ideas for possible implementation;
2. Contribute content to information-based products and services;
3. Analyze problems and propose solutions;
4. Oversee program effectiveness to evaluate and sustain quality;
5. Develop new products and services;
6. Mentor new members and new trade show attendees;
7. Identify future committee/council members.

• Distribution Council - Develops recommendations relating to the distribution, marketing, and control functions of the full-line distributor.

• Equipment Manufacturers Council - Develops recommendations relating to the distribution, marketing, and control functions of the equipment member.

• Retail Store Council - Develops programs and projects to address the needs of NSSEA members with retail stores.

• Suppliers Council - Acts as a voice for member suppliers, provides the show planning committees with ideas and input, and identifies and promotes member services for the supplier segment of the membership.

Committees

The National School Supply and Equipment Association also is comprised of main 4 committee groups:

• Business Technology Committee - Provides technology related information and services to the membership by monitoring technology trends, developing industry standards for electronic information exchange, educating members on the importance of technology in marketing their businesses, monitoring the NSSEA Web sites, and promoting education technology initiatives.

• Chairman’s Advisory Committee - Advises Chair and selects the McCurrach Award and John L. Spalding Scholarship winners.

• Finance & Audit Committee - Submits the budget for Executive Committee approval and monitors NSSEA's investment strategies.

• Independent Manufacturers Representatives Steering Committee - Enhances the effectiveness, profitability, and professional image of independent reps. Provides programs and services which promote the role of the rep within the school supply industry. Acts as a liaison between various groups within the school market.

• Leadership Education and Development Committee (LEAD) - Develop leadership skills, supply networking and educational opportunities, and introduce newcomers to the industry.

• Nominating Committee - Reviews nominations selected by members for NSSEA leadership positions and recommends a slate of nominees.

Develop the optimal tradeshow format, plan the education component and networking activities, and make recommendations on location, dates, fees, etc. to the Executive Committee.
