Catalog Technology Guidelines

NSSEA recommends to its members, and to the entire school market, the adoption and compliance of the following hardware and software for digital file transfers of product images and catalog pages between numbers:

Hardware: Macintosh/Power Mac Platforms (or equivalent).

Software: Quark Xpress (v3.2 and higher), PhotoShop (v4.0 and higher),  Freehand (v5.0 and higher), Illustrator (v5.5 and higher), and/or Pagemaker (5.0 and higher) (or equivalent).

Storage Media: 650, and/or 1.3 Opticals; Iomega Zip Disks; Jazz Disks; and/or CD-ROM Disks.

Pages: Should be fully assembled and linked with a laser proof for each page. Catalog copy should be included for each product with an  image.

Fonts: All fonts must be included separately with the document
including: screen, printer, and graphics fonts. Ideally, images and
art would not require fonts for output.

Indexing: A directory of all images should be furnished with the product number and supplier prefix (alpha code).
